Play Tank Games on Wii Online for Free? Impossible—WFC Shut Down 2014

Impossible on original Wii hardware.

• Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (WFC) shut down May 20, 2014. All official online play (Mario Kart Wii, CoD, Tank games) is dead.
• No native "Tank Game" on Wii had free online play; Battalion Wars 2 (RTS, has tanks) used WFC.

Fan-Restored Online (Advanced)

Wiimmfi (wiimmfi.de) — Community-run WFC replacement.

1. Requires **homebrew** (Letterbomb/BlueBomb/Str2hax) on Wii/vWii (Wii U).
2. Patch game ISO/disc via Wiimmfi Patcher (PC) or use **RiiConnect24** patcher.
3. Works for supported titles (Mario Kart Wii, Brawl, CoD: WaW/MW3, Animal Crossing, Battalion Wars 2).

Better Free Tank Alternatives (PC/Browser)

• World of Tanks / War Thunder (PC/Console — Free-to-play, massive populations).
• ShellShock Live (Steam — Turn-based artillery).
• Browser: Tanki Online, Tank Trouble (CrazyGames).

For Wii specifically: Homebrew + Wiimmfi is the *only* path to online. Otherwise, offline modes only.
