How to Play World of Warcraft Starter Edition (Free Trial Guide)

You likely mean World of Warcraft (not "World of Worldcraft"). The Starter Edition is a free trial with significant restrictions.

Getting Started

1. Create a Battle.net account at blizzard.com
2. Download the Battle.net Desktop App
3. In the app, select World of Warcraft → Install (chooses retail + Dragonflight)
4. Launch → log in → create character (any race/class except Allied Races)
5. Play through Exile's Reach (new player experience) → level to 20

Starter Edition Limits

• Level cap 20 (can't earn XP past 20)
• Gold cap: 10 gold
• No trading, mail, AH, guilds, communities
• No voice chat, no calendar invites
• Can't join groups with characters >20 (party sync helps)
• Expansions locked: Need subscription + latest expansion purchase for >20 content

Upgrading

• Subscription ($14.99/mo): Unlocks all content through current expansion (The War Within)
• Expansion purchase: Required for newest zones/dungeons/races

Minecraft is a separate sandbox game—no overlap.
