Playing Modern Warfare 3 on PS3 in 2024: Server Status & Options

Official Online Servers: SHUT DOWN (Feb 1, 2019). No multiplayer, leaderboards, DLC store, or Elite integration.

What Still Works (Offline Only)

**Physical Disc Required.** Digital version delisted from PS Store (2023). Disc install + Patch 1.19 (last) works offline.
**No "Hacks" Exist.** CFW (HEN/CFW) cannot restore central servers. Private server projects (e.g., AlterIWNet for MW2) **do not exist for MW3 PS3**.

Platform	Game	Online Status
PC (Steam)	MW3 (2011)	Active (Steamworks, 5k–15k peak). Dedicated servers, mods.
Xbox 360 / One / Series (BC)	MW3 (2011)	Active (Xbox Live, ~1k–3k peak). Backward compatible.
PS3	Black Ops 1 / 2	Active (Demonware servers still up, 500–2k peak).
PS4/5, Xbox, PC	MWII (2022) / MWIII (2023)	Current (Cross-play, huge population).

Recommendation: Buy MW3 on PC (Steam sale ~$5–$10) or play BO2 on PS3 if you must stay on PS3.
