PS3 Price on Boxing Day: How to Find Current Deals (No Real-Time Data)

I don't have real-time pricing. Boxing Day (December 26) deals vary yearly by retailer, region, and stock. Here's how to find the best price yourself.

How to Find the Best Price

  • Major Retailers (Check Dec 24–28): Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, Target, Newegg, B&H. Search "PS3" + filter "Video Games > Consoles."
  • Price Comparison Engines: Google Shopping, PriceGrabber, Shopzilla. CamelCamelCamel (Amazon price history).
  • Used/Refurbished (Often Better Value): eBay, Mercari, Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, local game stores. Refurbs with 90-day warranty often beat "new" clearance.
  • Model Matters Hugely:
    • Super Slim (500GB/1TB): ~$100–$150 used. Most reliable, quiet, large HDD.
    • Slim (250GB/320GB): ~$80–$120 used. Good reliability.
    • Fat (Backward Compatible 20/60GB): $150–$300+ used. Collector premium. High YLOD risk.

Buying Tips for Boxing Day

  • Verify backward compatibility if you want PS2 games (only launch 20/60GB "Fat" models).
  • Check for included: HDMI cable, controller (DS3), power cord, AV cable.
  • Ask about warranty (store refurbs: 30–90 days typical).
  • Set deal alerts on Slickdeals, Reddit r/GameDeals, r/PS3, CheapAssGamer.
  • Check "Open Box" / "Renewed" on Amazon/Best Buy — often returned units, full warranty.

2024 Reality Check

PS3 production ended 2017. "Boxing Day deals" on new units are mostly old stock clearance. Used/refurbished market is where the action is. A Super Slim 500GB + 2-3 games for $120-150 is a solid target.
