Item Duplication in Oblivion (PS3): Why It's Not Possible

You cannot duplicate or multiply items in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on PlayStation 3 using any legitimate in-game mechanic, exploit, or built-in feature.

Why the PS3 Version Prevents This

  • No Console Commands: The PC version's developer console (`~` key) allows `player.additem`, `duplicate`, etc. The PS3 has no equivalent access.
  • Patched Glitches: Famous duplication glitches (e.g., scroll duping, arrow duping, Dorian's house) existed on PC/360 at launch but were fixed in patches. The PS3 version (released March 2007) launched with these patches already applied (v1.1+ equivalent). No working duplication glitches are known for the final PS3 retail version.
  • No Mod Support: Unlike PC, PS3 does not support community mods that could add cheat items or duplication mechanics.

Legitimate Inventory Management

  • Storage Containers: Use safe, non-respawning containers: Your owned houses (Rosethorn Hall, Battlehorn Castle, etc.), Guild hall chests, or the Chest in the Imperial City Prison (after "Ahdarji's Heirloom"). Never store items in random dungeon/outside containers—they respawn and delete contents.
  • Sell Unwanted Loot: Merchants reset gold/inventory every 3 days (in-game). Use the Master Merchant (Shivering Isles) or high-mercantile trainers for better prices.
  • Feather/Weight Spells: Learn or enchant Feather 100pts on a ring/amulet to negate encumbrance temporarily.
  • Companions: Use followers (Knights of the Nine, Shivering Isles hirelings, Dark Brotherhood initiates) as pack mules.

Playing within the game's economy and weight limits is the intended challenge. Enjoy your adventures in Cyrodiil!
