PlayStation 5 Release Date, Models, and PS6 Speculation

Yes, the PlayStation 5 has been available since November 2020. It launched on November 12 in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, followed by a November 19 release in the rest of the world. The console has been on the market for several years and comes in two primary models:

• PS5 (Disc Edition) – Includes an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive for physical PS5 and PS4 game discs.
• PS5 Digital Edition – Omits the disc drive for a lower price, digital-only library.

A slimmer revision, the PS5 Slim, arrived in late 2023 with a reduced footprint and 1 TB of storage.

As for a PlayStation 6, Sony has made no announcements. Based on typical 6–7 year console cycles, industry speculation points to a potential launch window around 2026–2028, but that remains purely conjecture.
