Playing PS2 Games on PS3: Compatibility Guide

Yes, but only certain PS3 models support PS2 backward compatibility.

Compatible Models

• Original PS3 (Fat, 2006): All models compatible.
• PS3 Slim (2009): Only models with "BC" marking on box/console (near model number).
• PS3 Super Slim (2012): No PS2 compatibility.

How to Play

1. Insert PS2 disc.
2. PS3 recognizes and launches automatically.
3. Some games may require a compatibility update.

Caveats

• Not all PS2 games work; check online compatibility lists.
• Emulation isn't perfect—expect occasional slowdowns or graphical glitches.
• PS2 memory cards don't work on PS3.

Check for "BC" logo on your console/box. Super Slim owners cannot play PS2 games.
