Can You Disable Trophies on PS3? Hide, Don't Disable

You cannot completely disable trophy earning on PS3. The system automatically tracks trophies for every game launched. However, you can hide your trophy progress from other players:

Hide Trophy List (PS3 XMB)

  1. Settings → Trophy Collection.
  2. Press △ (Triangle) on the game → Information.
  3. Scroll to Privacy Setting → Set to "Hidden".
  4. Or: Settings → Privacy Settings → Trophy Information → "Hidden" (applies to all future games).

What "Hidden" Does

  • Friends / anyone viewing your profile cannot see that game's trophies, progress, or timestamp.
  • You still earn trophies normally. They appear in your list (marked 🔒).
  • Syncing to PSN still occurs.

What It Doesn't Do

  • Stop trophy pop-ups during gameplay.
  • Prevent trophy data being written to your profile.
  • Work for PS4/PS5 games (separate settings).

Third-Party Tools (PC, Advanced, Risky)

  • PS3 Trophy Unlocker / Trophy Manager (homebrew): Can delete/resign trophies on CFW consoles. Violates PSN ToS → ban risk.
  • Save Resigning: Transfer save to PC, resign with different account ID → trophies pop on that account. Also bannable.

If you just don't want friends seeing you played Hannah Montana: The Movie — hide it. If you want zero trophy data — play on a throwaway offline account.
