Playing Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater on PS3

The PS3 cannot play physical PS2 discs (except early "fat" models with hardware backward compatibility, which are rare). Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater requires alternative methods on PS3.

Ways to Play MGS3 on PS3

• PlayStation Now (Streaming): Included in PS Plus Premium; streams PS3 version to PS3/PS4/PS5/PC
• PS3 Emulator (RPCS3) on PC: Requires powerful PC + legally dumped game; still experimental

Better Alternatives

• Original PS2: Best authentic experience
• PS4/PS5: Metal Gear Solid 3 available digitally on PlayStation Store
• Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 (Switch, PS4/5, Xbox, PC): Modern port with enhancements

For most players, the Master Collection or PS4/5 digital version is the optimal choice today.
