Do You Need a PlayStation Account to Play Your Games? Physical vs. Digital
It depends on the game format:
Physical Discs (PS3, PS4, PS5):No account needed for offline single-player. Insert disc → Play. Exception: Some modern titles require a Day 1 patch (internet + account) to function properly.
Digital Games (PS Store):Account mandatory. License tied to PSN account. Must be logged in to download/launch. Primary PS4/PS5 allows offline play for that account's licenses; secondary consoles require active internet check.
