Buying Tips

  1. Test disc spin-up & audio CD playback (diagnoses laser + DAC).
  2. Check for "Disc Read Error" on boot.
  3. Verify serial sticker matches case.
  4. Budget $15–$30 for laser pot tweak / replacement if buying untested.

For playing, a modchipped/PSIO/POE SCPH-7501/9001 ($60–$90) is best value. For collecting, target SCPH-1001 CIB.
