How to Transfer Photos to PSP Without Internet: Memory Stick, USB Cable & Camera

You can transfer photos to PSP without internet using a Memory Stick and a card reader or USB cable. Internet is only needed for PlayStation Store downloads or RSS channels.

Method 1: Memory Stick + Card Reader (Fastest, Most Reliable)

  1. Remove Memory Stick Pro Duo / Pro-HG Duo / Micro M2 (with adapter) from PSP.
  2. Insert into USB card reader (built-in laptop slot or $5 USB dongle).
  3. On PC: Open drive → PSP\PHOTO\ (create if missing).
  4. Copy JPEG (.jpg/.jpeg) files there. Subfolders allowed.
  5. Eject safely → Reinsert in PSP → Photo app → View.

Method 2: USB Cable (No Card Reader)

  1. Connect PSP to PC via USB (Mini-B / Micro-B for Go).
  2. On PSP: Settings → USB Connection → X.
  3. PC sees "Removable Disk" → PSP\PHOTO\ → Copy JPEGs.
  4. On PSP: Press Circle to exit USB mode.

Note: Requires PSP firmware 2.00+. Windows 10/11 may need Media Go drivers for full recognition; simple mass storage usually works.

Method 3: Digital Camera Direct (If Camera Supports)

  • Some cameras (Sony, Canon) act as USB host – insert PSP Memory Stick into camera → copy via camera menu. Rare.

Format Requirements

  • Image: JPEG baseline (progressive JPEG may not show). Max 4032×4032 px (PSP-1000/2000/3000/Go).
  • Folder: PSP/PHOTO/ or PSP/PHOTO/ALBUM_NAME/.
  • Filename: 8.3 or long names OK; avoid special chars.

Troubleshooting

  • Photos not appearing? Ensure PHOTO folder is uppercase on case-sensitive readers. Rebuild database: Settings → System Settings → Restore Default Settings (keeps data).
  • Corrupted data? Run chkdsk on Memory Stick (PC).
  • Go model: Uses Micro M2 – needs M2-to-Pro Duo adapter or Micro M2 reader.

No internet needed at any step. Pure local transfer.
