PlayStation Move Navigation Controller – Not "Navigator" (What It Does)

The device is called the "PlayStation Move Navigation Controller" (CECH-ZCS1), not "Navigator." It's the off-hand companion to the PlayStation Move Motion Controller.

Function

  • Left-hand analog input: Analog stick (L3 click), D-pad, L1/L2/L3, PS button, Action buttons (Cross, Circle, Triangle, Square)
  • No Motion Tracking: No accelerometer, gyroscope, or light sphere. Does not track 3D position.
  • Pairing: USB cable to PS3 → press PS button. Wireless via Bluetooth (same as DS3)
  • Power: Internal rechargeable Li-ion (Mini-USB charge). ~30 hrs

Why It Exists

Move Motion Controller (wand) has no analog stick. Navigation Controller provides movement/turning in games where you point/aim with Move but move with stick:

  • Killzone 3, SOCOM 4, Resident Evil 5: Gold, Heavy Rain, Time Crisis: Razing Storm, Dead Space 2, Sorcery

Alternatives

  • DualShock 3 (held in left hand): Works in most Move games as Navigation substitute. Bulkier.
  • Sharp Shooter Attachment (CECH-ZSG1): Gun shell housing Move + Navigation. Immersive for shooters.

PS4 / PS5 Compatibility

  • PS4: Navigation Controller works for PS3 Move games via backward compatibility (rare). Not for PS VR (uses Move Motion + DS4 / Aim Controller)
  • PS5: Not supported. PS VR2 uses Sense Controllers (built-in sticks)

Collector Note

Discontinued 2012. Used prices: $15–$35. Essential for Sorcery, Killzone 3 Sharpshooter setup.
