Using Gameshark with SixtyForce (N64 Emulator): Not Supported—Switch to RetroArch or Project64

Gameshark / Action Replay codes do not work in SixtyForce.

Why

  • SixtyForce is abandoned (last update 2011). No cheat engine, no Gameshark/AR database, no memory viewer.
  • N64 Cheats Require Hardware Interception: Real Gameshark sits between cartridge and console, patching ROM/RAM in real-time. Emulators simulate this via **cheat databases + memory patching** — SixtyForce lacks the subsystem.
  • Better Emulators Exist: Project64 (Windows), Mupen64Plus / ParaLLEl-RPI (Linux/Pi), RetroArch (Mupen64Plus-Next core) — all support **.cht cheat files**, RAM search, Gameshark/Pro Action Replay code formats.

How to Use Cheats in Modern N64 Emulators

  1. Download **.cht file** for your game (region-specific!) from RetroArch Cheats Repo or GameHacking.org.
  2. In RetroArch: Quick Menu → Cheats → Load Cheat File → Enable codes.
  3. In Project64: Cheats → Add Cheat → Paste code (GS/AR format) → Enable.

Ethical Note

Cheats disable achievements, desync netplay, and can corrupt saves. Use for testing/single-player fun only. SixtyForce itself is obsolete — switch to RetroArch or Project64.
