Is a 64 MB SiS Mirage 3 + 960 MB RAM Good for Gaming in 2024? Absolutely Not.

Absolutely not. That hardware (~2005–2007 entry-level laptop/desktop) cannot run any game released after ~2008.

Why It Fails

ComponentSpec2024 Reality
GPUSiS Mirage 3 (64 MB shared)No Shader Model 3.0, no DirectX 10+, 0.5 GFLOPS. Can't draw modern UI.
RAM960 MB (likely DDR1/DDR2)Windows 10/11 alone uses 2–3 GB. Swap thrashing = freeze.
CPU (implied)Celeron M / Pentium Dual-Core / SempronSingle/dual core, no SSE4/AVX. Can't decode modern video/codecs.

What *Might* Run (At 800×600, Low, 15 fps)

  • Pre-2006 games: Half-Life 2, GTA: San Andreas, WoW Classic (1.12), CS 1.6, StarCraft, Diablo II.
  • 2D indies: Stardew Valley (maybe), Terraria (no), Vampire Survivors (no — needs GPU).
  • Browser games: Agar.io, Slither.io (CPU only).

Real Upgrade Paths

  1. Used Office SFF (OptiPlex 7020/3020, EliteDesk 800 G1/G2): i5-4570/4590 + 8–16 GB DDR3 + GTX 1650 Low Profile / RX 6400. $150–$220. Plays 90% of Steam at 1080p/60.
  2. APU Build (No GPU): Ryzen 5 5600G / 8700G + 16 GB DDR4-3200 + B550. $350–$450. 1080p Low/Med in new titles.
  3. Steam Deck (LCD/OLED): $399/$549. Handheld + docked. Plays 95% of Steam. Best value.
  4. Cloud Only: GeForce Now Free / Xbox Cloud (Game Pass Ultimate) on current device. No hardware upgrade.

Don't spend a dime upgrading that SiS system. It's e-waste. Invest in the $150 office PC + GPU path—you'll play Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, Helldivers 2 at 60 fps.
