Can 3DS Play Videos and E-books? Videos Yes (Limited), E-books No

Videos: Yes (with limits). E-books: Not natively.

Video Playback

• Supported formats: H.264/MPEG-4 (.mp4, .m4v), Motion JPEG (.avi), 3GPP (.3gp).
• Transfer required: Use PC software (Nintendo Video, or manual conversion via HandBrake/FFmpeg) to convert and copy to SD Card.
• No built-in video player app — videos play via the Camera app or specific game apps.
• Limited controls: No subtitle support, speed adjustment, or resolution settings.
• SD Card required.

E-books

• No native e-reader app or support for .epub/.pdf/.mobi.
• Workaround: Use the 3DS web browser to access cloud readers (Kindle Cloud Reader, Google Play Books) — but small screen makes reading tedious.
• Homebrew: Custom firmware can install e-reader apps (voids warranty, not for beginners).
• DSiWare: A few limited e-reader apps existed but are unavailable now.

For serious reading, use a phone, tablet, or dedicated e-reader. 3DS video playback is a novelty, not a feature.
