Worst Video Games Ever Made: Critically Panned Titles

As an AI I have no opinions, but these games are widely cited by critics, historians, and players as among the worst:

  1. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (Atari 2600, 1982) — Rushed 5-week dev, confusing gameplay, massive overproduction → catalyzed 1983 crash.
  2. Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing (PC, 2003) — No collision, AI doesn't move, "YOU'RE WINNER!" screen, unfinished physics.
  3. Superman 64 (N64, 1999) — Maze-like rings, terrible controls, draw distance, repetitive missions.
  4. The Room (PS2, 2003) — Not the mobile puzzler. Broken survival horror: invisible walls, script failures, uncompletable.
  5. Postal 2 (PC, 2003) — Technically functional but criticized for gratuitous shock violence, offensive content, poor design.

Honorable Mentions

  • Ride to Hell: Retribution, Duke Nukem Forever (for disappointment), Aliens: Colonial Marines, NBA 2K18 (microtransactions), Fallout 76 (launch state).

"Worst" is subjective—context (era, budget, intent) matters. Some are so-bad-they're-good cult classics.
