"Lost" Video Game: Why It Doesn't Exist and Similar Mystery Games

There is no official video game based on the TV series Lost (2004-2010). Despite the show's popularity, no licensed game was released for any platform.

Why No Game Was Made

  • Narrative complexity: The show's mystery-box structure, flashbacks/forwards, and large ensemble cast resisted straightforward game adaptation.
  • Licensing costs: ABC/Disney and Bad Robot demanded high fees with creative control.
  • Development troubles: Ubisoft announced a Lost game in 2006 (for PS3/360/PC) but quietly cancelled it in 2008.
  • Mobile tie-ins only: Minor iOS apps (Lost: The Game, Lost: Via Domus companion) were released but delisted.

Fan Projects

Lost: Via Domus (2008) is the closest — an official Ubisoft game where you play an amnesiac survivor. It's delisted but playable on PC/PS3/360 via physical copies. Community mods exist but are unofficial.
