How to Delete Games on Nintendo 3DS (Free Space): Data Management Steps

Deleting 3DS Software

You don't “erase” – you delete the title and its save data via Data Management.

1. From HOME Menu, tap System Settings (wrench icon).
2. Select Data Management → Nintendo 3DS.
3. Choose Software.
4. Select the game/icon you want to remove.
5. Tap Delete → Confirm Delete Software and Save Data.

Important Notes

• Save data is deleted with the game. Back up via Save Data Backup (same menu) to SD card first if you might return.
• Pre-installed titles (Face Raiders, AR Games, Health & Safety) cannot be deleted.
• SD Card games: Deleting from System Settings only removes the ticket; the .app files remain on SD. To fully wipe, format SD (Settings → Other Settings → Format SD Card) – erases all SD data.
• DLC is tied to the title; deleting game removes DLC tickets.
