Computer Space (1971), created by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney (Syzygy Engineering, later Atari), was the first commercial video game to use a joystick. It was a Spacewar! derivative in a fiberglass cabinet. Though commercially unsuccessful, it established the joystick as the primary arcade control scheme.
