How Do I Register My Kids to Receive Toys for Tots?

Toys for Tots is a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve organization founded in 1947 to collect and distribute toys to needy children at Christmastime. An IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charity, more than 500 communities in all 50 states participate in the annual toy drive. Donated toys are new and unwrapped and the goal of the organization is "deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens," according to the Toys for Tots website.
  1. Online

    • Visit the USMC Toys for Tots website (see Resources). On the "Request Toys" page, you will find your state, and then choose the area of the state in which you live. You can fill out the application online there, or you may call the local contact for your area to fill out an application.

    In Person

    • Visit your local Marine Corps Reserve office to register your children for Toys for Tots. You will need a picture ID. You may also be able to register at a local child and family services office during the Christmas season.

    To Register Others

    • To register children of another family to receive toys, you simply visit the site, follow the instructions above and select "toy request form." Once you have filled out the required form, someone from your local chapter will contact you to gather more information.

    Becoming a Drop Site

    • Visit the Toys for Tots website and select the "Request Supplies" form under the "Request Toys" link once you have reached your local area. Simply fill out the form with your business name, supplies and number of boxes needed, and someone from the local chapter will contact you.
