Do You Need the Disc to Play SimCity?

It depends entirely on which SimCity you're playing:

• SimCity (1989), 2000, 3000, 4 (Deluxe/Rush Hour): Yes. Physical CD/DVD required for installation and often for launch (CD-check DRM).
• SimCity (2013) / SimCity (2018 re-release): No. Digital-only via Origin (EA App). Download, install, play—no disc exists.
• SimCity BuildIt (Mobile): No. Free download from App Store / Google Play.
• SimCity Societies / Societies: Destinations: Yes (disc) for retail; digital on Steam/GOG (no disc needed).

Quick Check

Look at the game's store page (Steam, GOG, EA App, Origin, console store). If it says "Download" or "Play in Browser," no disc. If you have a physical box, check for a disc inside.
