Passover Games: Traditional & Modern Ideas for the Seder

Passover games engage all ages during the Seder. Here are classic and fresh ideas:

Traditional Seder Games

  • Four Questions (Mah Nishtanah) Race: Youngest sings; others guess the tune or translate fastest.
  • Afikoman Hunt: Hide the middle matzah; finder gets a prize (gelt, book, toy). Negotiate its return for Seder completion.
  • Plague Charades / Pictionary: Act/draw the 10 Plagues (Blood, Frogs, Lice, Wild Beasts, Pestilence, Boils, Hail, Locusts, Darkness, Firstborn).
  • Passover Bingo: Cards with Seder plate items, Haggadah words, family inside jokes. Mark off as mentioned.

Modern & Creative

  • Passover Trivia (Kahoot! / Quizizz): Custom quiz on Exodus, traditions, family history. Play on phones.
  • DIY Escape Room: Puzzles based on Haggadah sections (Kadesh, Urchatz, Karpas…). Lockboxes, ciphers, hidden clues.
  • Passover Scavenger Hunt: Find: something bitter (maror), something sweet (charoset), something green (karpas), a pillow (reclining), a cup (Elijah’s).
  • Mad Libs Haggadah: Blank out key words in the Maggid; fill with silly nouns/verbs. Read aloud for laughs.
  • “Who Knows One?” (Echad Mi Yodea) Speed Round: Groups race to list 13 attributes.

Selection Tips

  • Ages: Toddlers → Afikoman hunt + plague toys. Teens → Escape room/trivia. Adults → Mad Libs + wine pairing.
  • Time: 10–15 min games fit between Seder steps.
  • Prep: Print cards, gather props, test tech beforehand.

Goal: Joyful engagement with the Exodus story. The best game is the one your family actually plays.
