How to Get Stronger Pokémon Without Cheats: IVs, EVs, and Natures Explained

There are no "modifiers" or cheat codes that legally alter Pokémon stats. What players often call modifiers are actually the game's hidden mechanics: Base Stats, Individual Values (IVs), Effort Values (EVs), and Nature.

How Pokémon Get Stronger Legitimately

  • Leveling Up: Base stats increase with every level gained.
  • IVs (Individual Values): Hidden values (0–31) set at birth/capture determining maximum potential in each stat.
  • EVs (Effort Values): Earned by defeating specific Pokémon; they boost specific stats (max 510 total, 252 per stat).
  • Nature: Increases one stat by 10% and decreases another by 10% (5 neutral natures).

Strategies for Competitive Stats Without Cheating

  1. Breeding: Pass down high IVs and desired Natures using items like the Destiny Knot (5 IVs from parents) and Everstone (guarantees Nature).
  2. EV Training: Battle specific Pokémon (or use vitamins/feathers/wings) to optimize EV spreads. Online guides list efficient training spots per stat.
  3. Nature Selection: Use a Pokémon with Synchronize ability (matching your desired Nature) at the front of your party to increase wild encounter rates for that Nature, or breed with Everstone.
  4. Hyper Training (Gen 7+): Bottle Caps max out IVs at Level 100 (cosmetic, doesn't pass down).
  5. Mints (Gen 8+): Change Nature's stat effects (not the Nature itself for breeding).

Building a competitive team takes strategy and dedication—cheating undermines the core gameplay loop. The pride of a self-built 6IV perfect Nature team is unmatched.
