The Sims 2: How to Catch a Cheating Sim (Observation Guide)

The game never explicitly notifies you of infidelity. No "Cheater!" popup, no relationship panel flag. You must infer from behavioral cues.

Observable Clues (High Confidence)

BehaviorWhat It Suggests
Frequent "Flirt," "Kiss," "Make Out" with non-partnerActive romantic pursuit
Late-night visits / "Go Home" ignoredSecret rendezvous
Partner's Relationship Bar dropping rapidlyNeglect + rival gains
Moodlets: "Guilty," "Nervous," "Flustered" after socialsInternal conflict (base game + expansions)
"Dirty Laundry" memory (if caught by another Sim)Gossip system triggered

How to Investigate

  1. Follow the Sim: Use camera lock (Tab) → watch autonomous interactions.
  2. Check Relationship Panel: Sort by "Romantic" → see who's high.
  3. Invite Suspect Over: Test reaction. Jealousy = high romance with visitor.
  4. Use "SimPE" (PC only): Open save → Neighborhood → Sim Description → Memory tab. Lists "Had WooHoo with [Sim]" memories—even hidden ones.

Confrontation Options

  • Direct: "Confess to Cheating" (Mean interaction) → Massive relationship drop, possible breakup.
  • Passive: "Break Up" → Clean split, less drama.
  • Therapy (FreeTime): Counselor career chance card can repair.

Remember: Some Sims are naturally flirty (Romance Aspiration, "Flirty" trait). Context matters. SimPE is the only 100% proof on PC.
