Mirage Island in Pokémon Ruby: No Cheats Needed — Here's How

Mirage Island appears **without cheats** in Pokémon Ruby (and Sapphire/Emerald). It's a rare, daily event based on a hidden number.

Requirements

1. Beat the Elite Four (become Champion)
2. Have 60+ Pokémon registered in Hoenn Pokédex (not National)
3. Talk to the old man in Pacifidlog Town (southeast house, facing east). He says "I can see Mirage Island today!" or "I can't see it."
4. If he sees it: Surf east from Pacifidlog → Route 130 → Mirage Island appears as small landmass

Mechanics

• Every day at midnight, game generates random 16-bit "Mirage Number" (0–65535)
• If **any** Pokémon in party/PC has **personality value (PID) matching that number**, island appears
• Probability ≈ 1/65536 per Pokémon. With 60+ species, odds improve but still ~0.1%/day
• Island contains: Wynaut (Lv 5–50, only wild encounter), Liechi Berry (boosts Attack in pinch — best for Salac/Endure sets)

Tips to Increase Odds

• Fill PC boxes with diverse Pokémon (more PIDs = more lottery tickets)
• Check daily — old man's dialogue updates at midnight
• Use RNG manipulation (emulator) to force appearance

No cheat code exists or is needed. It's a deliberate rarity mechanic. Patience or RNG abuse are the only paths.
