Nintendo DS SD Card Prices in GBP: What You Need to Know

There's no single price because most Nintendo DS models don't use SD cards. Only the Nintendo DSi and DSi XL have SD card slots (for DSiWare, photos, music). The original DS, DS Lite, and 3DS family use different media (Game Cards for games; 3DS uses SD/microSD).

If You Need an SD Card for a DSi/DSi XL

Standard SD cards (up to 32 GB, SDHC) work. Prices in the UK (as of 2024) for reputable brands (SanDisk, Samsung, Kingston):

  • 8–16 GB: £4–£8
  • 32 GB: £6–£12

Speed Class: Class 10 / UHS-I (U1 or U3) is plenty; the DSi doesn't benefit from faster cards.

Where to Buy (UK)

  • Amazon UK – Wide selection, next-day delivery.
  • Argos – Reserve online, collect in-store.
  • Curry's / PC World – In-store advice available.
  • eBay UK – Cheaper used/refurbished options; check seller ratings.
  • CEX – Graded used cards with warranty.

Quick Checklist Before Buying

  1. Confirm your model: DSi or DSi XL only.
  2. Choose 16–32 GB for ample DSiWare/photo storage.
  3. Stick to major brands to avoid fakes.
  4. Format to FAT32 in the DSi system settings before use.

If you have a 3DS/2DS, you need a microSD card (often included with the console). For original DS/DS Lite, no card slot exists—games save to the cartridge itself.
