Changing Your Name in Nintendogs: Not Directly Possible, But Workarounds Exist

You cannot edit your owner name in the original Nintendogs (DS) after initial setup. It's written to the save file permanently.

Workarounds

1. New Game: Delete save (Hold L+R+A+B+X+Y on white "Nintendo" screen at boot) → Restart → Enter new name. Lose all progress.
2. Transfer Dog to New Save:
   • Requires two DS systems and a second copy of Nintendogs (or friend's copy).
   • Use DS Download Play: Host "Send Dog" on old save; Guest "Receive Dog" on new game.
   • Your dog (personality, tricks, items) moves; new save gets new owner name.

Nintendogs + Cats (3DS) also locks the name after start.
