Trading Pokémon: GBA ↔ DS on DS Lite? (Not Directly)

Direct trade between GBA cartridge and DS cartridge on a DS Lite is impossible.

Why

• DS Lite has GBA slot (Slot-2) but no link-cable port.
• DS games communicate via local wireless; GBA games use serial link cable.
• Pal Park (in DPPt/HGSS) only migrates from GBA → DS (one-way), requires GBA cart in Slot-2 + DS cart in Slot-1.

Legitimate Migration Path (Gen 3 → 4 → 5 → HOME)

1. GBA (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FR/LG) → DS Lite (Slot-2) + DS cart (Slot-1) → Pal Park → catch in DS game.
2. DS (DPPt/HGSS/BW/B2W2) → 3DS/2DS → Poké Transporter → Pokémon Bank → Pokémon HOME → modern games.

Hardware Needed

• DS Lite (for Slot-2) + 3DS/2DS (for Transporter/Bank) + active Pokémon Bank subscription (ended 2023 — now free until shutdown) + Pokémon HOME (free/premium).

Shortcut (If You Have CFW)

PKHeX on PC + save export (Checkpoint / JKSM on 3DS) → edit / inject → import. Fastest for personal use.
