Original Nintendo DS: Internet Capability?

No built-in Wi-Fi. The launch-model "Phat" DS (2004) requires external hardware for online:

  • Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector (discontinued) — PC dongle creating soft-AP.
  • Wireless router (WEP / open) — DS only supports 802.11b, WEP or no encryption. WPA/WPA2 = no connect.

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service shut down May 20, 2014 — all official online play dead. Homebrew (Wiimmfi, AltWFC) restores some titles.
