Fix DS Lite Auto-On with Action Replay Inserted

The DS Lite powers on automatically when an **Action Replay (AR) cartridge** is inserted because the AR's **auto-boot feature** bridges the cartridge detect pins, tricking the console into thinking a game was inserted + power button pressed.

Fixes (In Order)

  1. Remove AR Cartridge. Immediate fix. DS Lite stays off until power button.
  2. Disable Auto-Boot on AR: Boot AR → Menu → **Settings / Options** → **Auto Boot / Quick Boot** → **Off**. Save. (Varies by AR firmware version: DSi/3DS AR, AR Max, AR DS).
  3. Hard Reset DS Lite: Power off. Remove all carts. Hold Power 15s. Reinsert game only. Power on.
  4. Format AR microSD: If AR uses microSD (DSi/3DS models), backup saves → format FAT32 → restore only _aio folder + saves. Clears corrupt boot config.
  5. Update AR Firmware: Manufacturer site (CodeJunkies / Datel) — rare updates.
  6. Try Different AR Unit: Some revisions (early white AR DS) notorious for auto-boot glitch.

Warnings

  • Cheat devices **void Nintendo warranty**.
  • Unofficial firmware = malware risk.
  • Certain codes (walk through walls, modify RAM) **permanently corrupt saves** — backup via NDS Backup Tool 3-in-1 / GodMode9 (on 3DS) before cheating.

If DS Lite still auto-boots with *no* cartridge → **power switch membrane short** (rare). Replace membrane or console.
