Legal Ways to Play DS/DSi Games

• Original cartridges: Still abundant on eBay, local shops.
• Nintendo eShop (3DS/Wii U) — closed March 2023; previously purchased titles redownloadable.
• DSiWare — small exclusive titles; same eShop closure applies.
• MelonDS / DeSmuME / DraStic (Android) — accurate emulators. Legal only with your own dumped BIOS & ROMs.

Homebrew Without Piracy

If you want homebrew (emulators, media players, dev tools), research TWiLight Menu++ on a hacked 3DS/DSi via unlaunch/hiyacfw. It's open-source and doesn't require a flashcart. Still: no piracy support here.
