Nintendo DSi Internet Connectivity: What Still Works in 2024

Yes, the DSi has built-in Wi-Fi (802.11b/g). However:

• Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (WFC) shut down May 20, 2014. Online multiplayer, leaderboards, and matchmaking for DS/DSi games no longer function.
• DSi Shop closed March 2017. Cannot purchase new DSiWare.
• No Web Browser: The DSi lacks a modern browser; cannot surf the web, stream video, or use social media.

What Still Works

• Local wireless multiplayer (DS-to-DS) for supported games.
• System Transfer to 3DS (moves DSiWare, saves).
• Homebrew (via exploits) can enable custom apps, but requires technical skill.

For modern online gaming, a 3DS/2DS or Switch is required.
