There is no current official "The Sims Online" MMO. The original The Sims Online (2002) shut down in 2008 (rebranded EA-Land before closure). However, several modern ways exist to play The Sims with others.
| Game | Platform | Key Features |
|---|---|---|
| Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Switch | Visit islands, trade, decorate together. Real-time clock, seasonal events. Best "cozy multiplayer." |
| Stardew Valley | PC/Console/Mobile | Co-op farm (4 players), relationships, festivals, mod support. Deep systems. |
| Disney Dreamlight Valley | PC/Console | Quest-driven life sim, Disney/IP characters, co-op added 2024. F2P planned. |
| Palia | PC/Switch | Cozy MMO: housing, farming, fishing, cooking, social. Free, no sub. |
| Second Life | PC | User-created world, economy, avatars, roleplay. Steep learning curve, dated graphics. |
| Avakin Life / Highrise | Mobile | Fashion/social focus, apartment decorating, chat. Microtransaction-heavy. |
| Project Zomboid | PC | Survival life-sim. Multiplayer servers, deep needs/systems. Grim tone. |
EA has confirmed The Sims 5 (codenamed Project Rene) will include native multiplayer/co-op as a core pillar. Early playtests show shared build/buy and live mode. No release date yet (likely 2025+).
For now: Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley for polished co-op; Palia for MMO feel; Sims 4 Gallery for community content.
