Nintendogs Competitions: Removed in Later Versions

You cannot "go back" to competitions. The Disc Competition / Obedience Trial / Agility Trial system existed only in the original Nintendogs (DS, 2005) and Nintendogs + Cats (3DS, 2011). It was not included in any Switch, mobile, or remake version (none exist).

Original DS/3DS Competition Cycle

• Available daily after unlocking (trainer points).
• Three types: Disc (frisbee), Obedience (tricks), Agility (obstacle course).
• Winning → Trophy, Trainer Points, unlockables.
• No "season" or "off-season" — always available once unlocked.

If You're Playing Original DS/3DS

• Check Go Out → Contest Hall (top-right map).
• Ensure dog is fed, watered, not tired (sleep icon).
• Practice the specific trial type in "Training" mode first.

Modern Alternatives with Pet Competitions

• The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs — Pet shows, agility, obedience.
• Petz (various) — Shows, breeding.
• Animal Crossing: NH — Fishing tourney, Bug-off (villager pets).
• Dragon Quest Monsters / Pokémon — Competitive battling.

The DS/3DS games are the only ones with the full Nintendogs competition suite. Play them on original hardware or DS/3DS emulator (melonDS, Drastic).
