How to Connect PS3 to the Internet (Step-by-Step)

1. Verify Internet Connection

  • Wired: Ethernet cable from router to PS3.
  • Wireless: Ensure Wi-Fi is working (2.4 GHz only).

2. Create/Use PSN Account

  • New: account.sony.com → Create Account.
  • Existing: Sign in on PS3 under PlayStation Network.

3. Configure Network on PS3

  1. Settings → Network Settings → Internet Connection Settings → OK.
  2. Select Easy (auto-detect) or Custom (manual IP/DNS).
  3. Choose Wired or Wireless → Scan/Enter SSID → Security type → Password.
  4. Test Connection.

4. Troubleshooting

  • Router: Enable UPnP, set PS3 to DMZ, or port forward (TCP: 80, 443, 5223; UDP: 3478, 3479, 3658).
  • Disable media server connection if not used.
  • Update PS3 System Software (Settings → System Update).

Note: PlayStation Network on PS3 is largely deprecated; some features (store, trophies sync) may still work, but online multiplayer for most games is disabled.
