Can You Transfer DLC from PC to PS3? The Short Answer: No

No. DLC licenses are platform-specific and cannot be transferred between PC (Steam, Epic, EA App, etc.) and PlayStation 3.

Technical & Legal Barriers

  • Different File Formats & DRM: PC DLC uses .dll/.asset bundles protected by Steamworks/CEG/Denuvo. PS3 DLC uses encrypted .pkg files signed for Sony's NP environment. They are binary incompatible.
  • Separate Licensing Agreements: Publishers sell licenses per platform. Buying on Steam grants a Steam license; it does not grant a PlayStation Network license.
  • Account Ecosystems: Steam/EA/Ubisoft accounts are distinct from PSN. There is no linking mechanism to prove cross-ownership for legacy PS3 titles.

How to Get DLC on PS3

  1. Sign in to the PlayStation Store on the PS3 (or via web store at store.playstation.com with the same PSN ID).
  2. Navigate to the game's "Add-Ons" section.
  3. Purchase the DLC using wallet funds or a payment method.
  4. Download and install directly to the PS3 hard drive.

Exception: A handful of "Cross-Buy" PS3/PS Vita titles existed, but never PC/PS3. If you own the PC version, you must repurchase on PS3.
