PS3 Update 3.74: Doesn't Exist—Latest is 4.87

There is no PS3 system software update 3.74. The version numbering jumped from the 3.x series to 4.x long ago. The final official PS3 update is 4.87, released on September 28, 2021.

Sony ceased major PS3 firmware updates years prior, focusing on PS4 and PS5. Update 4.87 was a minor stability/security patch. If you're seeing references to "3.74," it's likely a confusion with an older version (3.70 was 2010) or a typo.

Always update via the official System Update menu on the console or download from PlayStation's official site.
