How to Register a PlayStation 3

The Sony PlayStation 3 system includes benefits and features separate from playing video games. Purchase of the PS3 enables a broad online support initiative. Sony provides additional information online concerning the PlayStation 3, as well as recommendations for related products. Game promotions and free demos are also available through email correspondence by Sony. All of these features are available to all PlayStation 3 owners. To unlock these features, register the PS3 through PlayStation 3's product registration page.

  Locate the PlayStation 3 system's barcode number. You can find it on the the back of the PlayStation 3, to the left of the HDMI port. Write the number down for use later on.

  Access PlayStation's official product registration website. Locate the "Hardware" section in the middle of the page. The PlayStation 3 will be listed first, visualized by an image of the video game system.

  Enter the barcode number found from Step 1 into the space entitled "Barcode #." In the "Purchase Date" space, enter the month and year in which you purchased the PlayStation 3. Scroll down and select "Continue."

  Input additional information in the subsequent page. In the space provided, enter your name and address, as well as an email address. At the bottom of the page click "Yes" to receive monthly email newsletters, and invitations to play beta versions of video games. Click "Continue" at the bottom of the page to finish the registration process.
