Playing PS3 Games on PS4: Not Natively Supported

PS3 discs do not work in PS4. Architecture is completely different.

Why Incompatible

• CPU: PS3 Cell (PPE+7 SPEs) vs. PS4 x86-64 Jaguar.
• GPU: PS3 RSX vs. PS4 GCN-based Radeon.
• OS: PS3 GameOS vs. PS4 Orbis OS (FreeBSD-based).
• Disc Format: Both Blu-ray but different filesystem/encryption.

Ways to Play PS3 Games on PS4

1. PlayStation Now: Cloud streaming (subscription; ~300 PS3 titles).
2. Remasters/Ports: The Last of Us Remastered, Uncharted Collection, God of War III Remastered, etc.
3. Cross-Buy: Some PS3/Vita/PS4 purchases unlock all versions.
4. PC Emulation (RPCS3): Requires powerful PC; legal only with owned games.

No disc-based backward compatibility exists. PS Now is the only official route on PS4 hardware.
