PlayStation Store Refund Policy: Can You Get Money Back?

Refunds are possible but strictly limited. Sony's policy is **"all sales final"** with narrow exceptions. Digital goods are considered "consumed" upon download/streaming.

Qualifying Scenarios (Discretionary)

  • Pre-Order Cancellation: Before release date (auto-granted if requested).
  • Defective Content: Game fails to launch, corrupt data, missing advertised features (e.g., promised mode absent). Must report **within 14 days of purchase** AND **< 2 hours playtime**.
  • Unauthorized Purchase: Account hacked / child bought without consent. Requires police report / bank dispute often.
  • Billing Error: Double-charged, wrong currency, price mismatch.

Almost Never Granted

  • Buyer's remorse ("didn't like it").
  • Finished the game / played > 2 hours.
  • Sale started after purchase.
  • DLC/Season Pass content you "didn't use."
  • Pre-load only (game not released yet — cancel pre-order instead).

How to Request

  1. Go to PlayStation Support → **Live Chat** (fastest) or "Request Refund" form.
  2. Provide: **Account ID, Order Number, Content Name, Reason, Evidence** (screenshots of error, crash logs).
  3. Agent reviews. Decision in 24–72 hrs. If approved → refund to original payment (5–10 business days) or Wallet (instant).

Pro Tips

  • **Be polite, concise, factual.** "Game crashes on startup (CE-XXXXX), playtime 12 min, purchased 3 days ago."
  • **EU/UK/Australia/Brazil:** Stronger consumer laws may guarantee 14-day cooling-off for *undownloaded* content. Cite local law.
  • **Third-Party Retailers:** If you bought a **code** from Amazon/GreenManGaming/CDKeys, request refund from *them* (their policy applies).

Assume **no refund**. Buy deliberately. Use wishlists, watch reviews, wait for sales.
