GameCube–GBA Cable Does Not Work on Wii

Incompatible. Wii uses different GBA connectivity:

  • GCN–GBA cable: Connects GBA to GCN controller port (serial).
  • Wii: No GCN controller ports on later models; uses WiiConnect24 wireless protocol for GBA link (via Nintendo DS as intermediary).

How GBA Link Worked on Wii

  1. Wii game (e.g., Pokémon Battle Revolution) hosts session.
  2. Nintendo DS (with GBA cart in slot-2) connects wirelessly.
  3. Data transfers via DS — not direct cable.

Hardware Reality

  • WiiConnect24 service discontinued 2013.
  • Required: Wii + DS (original/Lite) + GBA game + DS wireless.
  • No cable solution exists — different electrical interface.

Modern Alternative

Use mGBA (PC/phone) with link cable emulation (local or netplay) for GBA↔GCN/Wii connectivity simulation.
