Critical Safety Note

Summary

  • Travel Charger: Buy if you travel internationally or want a compact bag charger.
  • Wall Charger: Fine for home/office. Often cheaper used.
  • Both charge at the same speed. The DSi regulates current draw.

Buying Replacements (2024)

  • Official Nintendo (WAP-002): $10–15 used. Guaranteed spec/safety.
  • Quality 3rd Party: Look for "5.2V 450mA", UL/CE listed. Avoid unbranded $3 units—fire risk, voltage ripple.
  • Note: 3DS/2DS use a different 4.65mm connector (WAP-003). DSi chargers do NOT fit 3DS.
