How to Use GameShark on Nintendo DS

You cannot. GameShark is a physical cartridge for Game Boy / Game Boy Color / Game Boy Advance / N64 / PS1 / PS2 / Dreamcast. The Nintendo DS has no compatible slot (DS slot is for DS cards; GBA slot is for GBA carts only—GameShark GBA works there for GBA games, not DS games).

DS Cheating Methods

• Flashcarts (R4i Gold 3DS RTS, Ace3DS X, R4i-SDHC, DSTWO+): microSD → ROMs + Cheat Databases (usrcheat.dat). Boot via DS Menu / HiyaCFW / TWiLight Menu++. Best for DS/DSi/3DS.
• Action Replay DS / DSi / 3DS: Dedicated cheat cartridge (updates via PC). Limited code support for newer games.
• NDS Cheat Apps (Homebrew): NDS Cheat Code Editor, r4cce (PC) to build `usrcheat.dat`. TWiLight Menu++ in-game menu (L+R+START) to toggle.
• RAM Editing (Advanced): DeSmuME (PC) / melonDS + Lua scripts / Cheat Engine → find addresses → patch live.

Warnings

• Flashcarts / AR may be blocked by firmware updates (DSi/3DS). Use ntrboot / Magnet method for 3DS.
• Online play + cheats = Ban (Mario Kart DS, Pokémon, etc.).
• Save corruption risk. Backup saves (Checkpoint, JKSV, GodMode9).
• Piracy: Downloading ROMs you don't own is illegal. Dump your own carts.

For modern cheating: Flashcart + TWiLight Menu++ + usrcheat.dat is the standard.
