PS3 250 GB: Storage Capacity Does Not Affect Game Compatibility

"Play regular" is unclear. The PS3's hard drive size (20, 40, 60, 80, 120, 160, 250, 320, 500 GB) does not affect which games run. All PS3 models play the same disc and digital library.

What 250 GB Gives You

• More space for: Game installs (mandatory 2–8 GB), Digital games (PSN), DLC, Save data, Photos/Music/Video, Linux (OtherOS — removed on Slim firmware 3.21+).
• Launch 60/80GB models had PS2 hardware backward compatibility; 250GB Slim does not.

If You Mean "Play Online" / "Play Discs" / "Play PS2 Games"

• Online: Yes (PSN still up for PS3), needs account + game server support.
• Discs: Yes, all models.
• PS2 Games: Only on launch 60GB (NTSC) / 80GB (Motorstorm bundle) / some 20GB. 250GB Slim = No (software emulation removed).

Expand Storage

Any 2.5" SATA HDD (up to 2TB tested) or SSD fits internally. Format via Settings → System Settings → Format Utility. External USB drives cannot store games (only media backup).
