Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection Release Date: March 27, 2012 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)

Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection launched on March 27, 2012 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC (Steam).

What's Included

• Mortal Kombat (1992)
• Mortal Kombat II (1993)
• Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995)

All three are arcade-perfect emulations (not the console ports) with online multiplayer (GGPO netcode on PC/PS3; standard on 360), leaderboards, and challenge towers.

Notable Issues at Launch

• Input lag on PS3/360 (patched partially).
• Missing moves/glitches in UMK3 (e.g., missing animalities, wrong fatality inputs).
• Online desyncs, no cross-play.
• PC version delisted from Steam (2016) due to Warner Bros. licensing; keys still activate.

Better Ways to Play These Today

• Mortal Kombat 1 (2023) – Includes MK1–3 via Kameo system? No, but has classic skins.
• Arcade1Up cabinets – Physical hardware with original PCBs.
• MAME / FBNeo (PC/Raspberry Pi): Arcade-perfect, lower latency, free (with own ROMs).
• Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath – Includes MK11 story, not classics.

The Kollection is playable on original hardware if you own it, but for the best classic MK experience in 2024, emulation on PC or MiSTer FPGA surpasses it in accuracy and latency.
