How to Check Before Downloading

  • PlayStation Store (web/console) → Demo page → "Details" often lists Approximate Play Time.
  • Search "Game Name demo length" + "PS3" on YouTube/Reddit.
  • File size hint: <200 MB = short; 1–2 GB = substantial; 5+ GB = large slice/full game.

Notable Long Demos

  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots – "Act 1" (~2–3 hrs).
  • Final Fantasy XIII – First 3–4 hours (Chapters 1–3).
  • Ni no Kuni – First ~2 hours.
  • Dragon's Dogma – Full vocations, large area (~3 hrs).

Demo Limitations

  • Trophies usually disabled (or separate list).
  • Saves rarely transfer to full game (exceptions: Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age: Origins).
  • Online multiplayer demos require PS+ (free at time) and expire when servers shut.
