PS3 Controller + Minecraft Joypad Mod: Not Natively Compatible—Use Xbox Controller or Better Mods

The Minecraft Joypad Mod (for Java Edition) natively supports Xbox 360 / Xbox One controllers (XInput). PS3 controllers (DualShock 3) use DirectInput/Bluetooth and are not directly recognized.

Workarounds (Unreliable)

• x360ce (XInput Wrapper): Maps DS3 to virtual Xbox 360 controller. Requires per-game config; may break with mod updates.
• DS4Windows / Steam Input: If using DualShock 4 / DualSense via Steam, enable "PlayStation Configuration Support" in Steam → Settings → Controller. Joypad Mod may still not detect it.
• Better: Use an Xbox-compatible controller. Cheap wired Xbox 360 clones ($15–$20) work flawlessly.

Alternative Mods with Broader Support

Some Forge/Fabric mods (e.g., Controllable, Gamepad Support) have broader controller support via SDL2/Gamepad API. Try those instead of Joypad Mod.

No guarantee any wrapper works perfectly. Native XInput controller is the only hassle-free solution.
