Cannot answer without knowing which Xbox you mean. Three generations overlap PS3 (2006-2013):
| Category | PS3 | Xbox 360 |
|---|---|---|
| Exclusives (Quality) | Uncharted 2, TLOU, MGS4, GoW3, Killzone 2, Demon's Souls, LBP, Infamous, Ratchet, Journey, Heavy Rain, Yakuza | Halo 3/Reach, Gears 1-3, Forza 3/4, Fable 2, Alan Wake, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect (timed), Left 4 Dead (timed) |
| Exclusives (Quantity) | More 1st/2nd party AAA | Fewer, but high impact |
| Hardware Power | Cell CPU theoretical peak higher; RSX weaker than Xenos. Hard to utilize. | Unified RAM (512 MB), Xenos GPU easier. Multiplats often better on 360. |
| Media | Blu-ray (50 GB) - won format war | DVD-DL (8.5 GB) - multi-disc games |
| Online | PSN Free (slow, 2011 hack) | Xbox Live Gold ($60/yr) - Party chat, cross-game invites, better matchmaking |
| Controller | Sixaxis (no rumble launch) → DualShock 3. D-pad king. | Xbox 360 Controller - Ergonomics king, triggers, battery pack. |
| Backward Compat | PS1 (all), PS2 (fat only, HW/EMU) | Original Xbox (emulation list ~400 titles) |
| Reliability | YLOD (fat), but lower rate | RROD (epidemic, 30-50% early) |
No contest. Xbox One/Series are 1-2 gens ahead. Better hardware, BC, Game Pass, Quick Resume, VRR, 120Hz, SSD. PS3 is obsolete.
