Prone in F.E.A.R.? Not a Feature—Crouch & Slow-Mo Instead

F.E.A.R. (2005) does not have a prone (lie flat) mechanic. You can crouch (Ctrl) for lower profile and stability, but not go fully prone.

Combat Mastery Without Prone

  • Aggressive cover use: Lean (Q/E) around corners; pop out, fire, retreat.
  • Reflex Time (Slow-Mo): Default [Shift]—drains meter, but grants precise aim and dodge windows. Manage meter via pickups.
  • Situational awareness: Enemies flank, flush with grenades, suppress. Listen for audio cues (radio chatter, footsteps).
  • AI pattern learning: Replicas prioritize cover-to-cover advances; ambush them at choke points.

The game's design rewards mobile, vertical combat—prone would slow the pace Monolith intended.
